How did you first find Lucent? In high school my friend Heather and I wanted to start our own alternative dance club and she introduced me to Lucent, which would become the basis for our group. I watched videos and read articles online, trying to take in all I could. It was like all my wildest dreams come together in one place, I couldn't believe how wonderful Lucent was.
Have you seen Lucent Live? Where? What was it like? I have been lucky enough to see Lucent a few times and each time was uniquely spectacular. My first show was at the El Rey, I was able to attend because I entered a video contest about how Lucent inspired me (a subject I could speak about endlessly). As runner up Dayna took me backstage to meet everyone and all I can remember was being starstruck, seeing the sets and costumes up close and meeting those lovely people I had just been captivated with onstage was a huge honor. I was even given a little poster that they had all signed with the sweetest sentiments, I still have that poster and it always makes me smile. I was also able to see Lucent at H. Wood (which had the most incredible outdoor area for the aerialists, it was breathtaking to be that close to the show), their private warehouse party (an immersive wonderland that ended too soon), and their recent show at the historic Palace Theatre (a spectacle that literally took my breath away).
What are your passions? Dancing, crafting, making/appreciating/sharing art, sewing and costume making, makeup, all things vintage.
What inspires you? All of the above, plus: the natural world (I love animal bones), Disney, my friends and fellow artists, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Bioshock, fashion, movies, costumes.
What's your favorite way to spend a Sunday? Waking up to the sound of rain, listening to Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, sewing, painting, sculpting, and cuddling up with some hot chocolate.
What's one thing you want to do before you leave this world? I want to discover the channel in my life that will allow me to fully express all the love and creativity I have bubbling up inside me. I find little places here and there but I haven't yet found my true calling.
